Are you legal?
“Make sure your emails and websites are legal or risk a fine”
UK legislation states that you must include certain information on any outgoing business email and on your company website.
Over 2 years after this legislation came into force (1st January 2007), it amazes us that many companies still don’t have these details in place, putting themselves at risk of a potentially hefty fine.
The legislation affects all private or public limited companies or limited liability partnerships. They must have the following details in legible characters on all letterheads, order forms, websites and business emails:
- Company registration number
- Place of registration (e.g. Scotland or England & Wales)
- Registered office address
- Postal and email address
If you are yet to comply with this legislation, you need to ask yourself what this says about you as a company? You could be perceived as not being totally on the ball with current issues and legislation which may give a negative image.
So check now if this information is included on all your relevant business correspondence to ensure you are legal and avoid any penalties!
